SRL was established in 1997 to perform R&D in core technology, specialising in analytical instrumentation including mass spectrometry, surface analysis and software informatics. Based in Manchester, UK, SRL is primarily engaged in work commissioned by Shimadzu headquarters and forms a key part of Shimadzu’s global R&D network. Shimadzu is a worldwide corporation whose founding philosophy is as pertinent today as it was in the C19th. Founded in Japan over 140 years ago, the company has grown to be an established leader in its field with substantial manufacturing bases - not only in Japan but also in the US, UK, Germany, Australia and South East Asia. Corporate Headquarters remains in Japan while Shimadzu's European HQ is sited in Germany.
