In 1998, the Shinagawa Refractories Company of Japan together with Thermal Ceramics Australia acquired the technical and manufacturing operations formerly owned by BHP Refractories, to form Shinagawa Thermal Ceramics, the largest manufacturer and supplier of quality, cutting edge refractory products in Australia and beyond. Since then, Shinagawa Japan has taken complete ownership of the company, which is now known as Shinagawa Refractories Australasia Pty Ltd. Shinagawa is the regions largest manufacturer and supplier of quality refractory and insulating materials. We operate 3 state of the art production facilities. 2 of these are located in Australia and one in New Zealand. Shinagawa manufactures a range of brick and castable from all of these facilities and supplements this range with materials from other global refractory companies such as Shinagawa Refractories (Japan), Allied Mineral Products and Isolite Refractories. Shinagawa has offices and warehouses covering all of Australia and New Zealand. Established in 1875 the Shinagawa Refractories Company is Japan’s oldest and most respected refractory supplier. It has modern well equipped manufacturing facilities in Japan including state-of-the-art equipment and the latest CIM (computer integrated manufacturing) systems. Shinagawa Japan has long been respected worldwide for its technological innovation and state-of-the-art research and development facilities covering all aspects of refractory usage from product formulation through to final application in industrial plant and equipment. This innovation and know how is now available to Australian industry through Shinagawa.
