Shine A Light Childhood Cancer Support provides a range of services for families affected by childhood cancer. Our support is available from the date a child is diagnosed for as long as the family need to be supported. We are a local charity providing services for the Coventry and Warwickshire area. We provide a range of services which include; * home visiting * telephone check ins * a welcome hamper, received by every family on our first visit with us * activity sessions and workshops ran from our cancer support centre in Rugby and from other local venues *counselling and play therapy sessions *group therapy sessions *days trips and outings *shiny hampers, hand delivered to every family we are supporting twice a year, which contain activity and craft materials, treats and games, to utilise between other activities and at times they may be in hospital to unable to be at school We believe that peer to peer support is a powerful support mechanism and we try to bring families together to enable peer to peer engagement as often as we can. Sometimes as whole family groups and also teenagers, siblings and parents. Additonally we provide some services to adults affected by cancer and their families, which include counselling and play therapy sessions. Our cancer support centre operates a community cafe and small shop which help us to generate income for the charity whilst not in use for support sessions.
