About Shine Consulting

Lisa Alvarez-Calderón has founded Shine Consulting, an executive coaching and leadership advisory practice. As a coach Lisa helps people reflect, gain insights and move forward so they can thrive and shine authentically. She brings trust, passion, courage, authenticity, integrity, a sense of adventure and joy to all she does. Lisa believes that if it’s not energizing, it is probably not worth doing. Lisa is currently completing an executive coaching certification at the Hudson Institute of Coaching in Santa Barbara, California. She grounds her coaching in a 35 year global human resources leadership career working with people in organizations across diverse sectors and geographies. Before starting Shine, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. She has been a trusted advisor and strategic business partner in pharmaceuticals, mining, financial services, academia and philanthropy. She has lived and worked in Chile, Singapore, and on the east coast, midwest and pacific northwest regions of the United States. She has built teams and led people in more than 20 countries, working for BHP, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol Myers-Squibb and CIGNA. She sits on the board of Trustees for her alma mater, Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and is a member of the International Women’s Forum for senior executive women. She received an MBA with Distinction from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She and her husband have raised two sons and live in Chincoteague, Virginia.
