About Shinn Buildings
Shinn Buildings, LLC has been a significant influence on the auto service industry for over 3 decades. Our history actually began Albert Shinn creating a robust aircraft maintenance program for Braniff Airlines. He did the same for United once Braniff closed its doors in the 70's. Taking many of the skills he had formed and honed in the airline world, he set his sights on the automotive service industry. Albert created systems for truck and auto maintenance. Over time, he found his way into the Quick Lube industry and began designing and constructing efficient quick lube buildings. Also, he created some game changing technology, now called the zip pit, which allowed oil to be changed without the need for a basement and then developed a new and improved version within the last few years (http://PitSystems.com). Albert has constructed hundreds of buildings for the quick lube and car wash industry and they are spread out all over the United States. He is a true pioneer and visionary. About a decade ago, Albert began experimenting with various construction methodologies and adopted a method that Shinn Buildings, LLC uses today, called Pre-Engineering. Pre-Engineering breaks down the building framing into 12' x 8' sections which are built in his offsite facility in the Rock Hill, SC area. The panels are constructed while the building's site work is going on, and delivered to the building site right as the concrete is cured. The panels fit together like an erector set and the typical building shell is up inside of a week (as compared with weeks with traditional framing). Typical construction can't even begin until the slab is cured, so our method literally shaves off 4 to 6 weeks of time off of the construction calendar, which means the customer is in his building that much faster, making money. Lenders love the shorter construction timeframe as it decreases their risk. It's a win-win.
