The Center for Media and Democracy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization working to strengthen the bedrock of democracy in Israel through journalistic projects and collaborations with local media outlets. The center was founded in correspondence with the global rise of nonprofit media organizations. It is not meant to compete with existing media outlets, but rather to collaborate with them to enhance their investigative abilities and the journalistic tools at their disposal. The center has been following the rise of fake news and the attacks on journalists and media organizations with grave concern. It strives to halt the ongoing injury to Israeli media and its democracy. Through in-depth investigative reporting, comprehensive reviews, and documentary projects carried out in collaboration with traditional media outlets, the center will deliver to the Israeli public reliable and high-quality information on Israeli society and government, expose corruption, and strive to correct wrongdoings. We believe investigative journalism is the foundation to safekeeping the fundamental human rights of every Israeli citizen. We are committed to investing our time and resources to promote it. A healthy democratic society is a society that allows for a diverse and equal discourse. In addition to supporting investigative reporting, the center strives to give a platform to underrepresented factions of Israeli society. The Center for Media and Democracy commits to publishing fact-based, reliable, and unbiased investigations and other journalistic projects, so that each one of us could be an informed citizen in a transparent and equal democratic society.
