About Shoppe and Tailor Studios

Short & Long-term rentals of our sewing studio space equipped with industrial machines, large cutting tables, industrial steam iron, fitting rooms, meeting space, and tools. Our studio is geared towards fashion designers, theatre & film professionals, textile artists, makers, home sewists, and dreamers. Shoppe and Tailor Studios is a queer-owned & operated community sewing hub. We believe in community over competition. We operate the studio space as a sewing community hub for start-up & growing fashion businesses, artists & creatives to work, congregate and most importantly - to make! While creative expression and pushing conventional aesthetic boundaries is always at the heart of what drives us, Shoppe and Tailor Studios’ core ethos is to offer possibilities—a space to learn, grow and offer an alternative to contemporary society’s disposable fashion practices. We encourage the growth of local fashion & artistry, and foster learning the skilled trade of sewing-for-yourself. By offering a creative hub where individuals can come to work on their projects, we save individuals the major hurdles and costs of purchasing industrial equipment and tools to start creating. We encourage sustainable maker practices by collecting scrap materials from projects that are available to all of our studio renters, to help them keep costs down on their projects, and to keep things out of landfill (we’re well aware that there are no good options for textile waste recovery). We’re proud of being a safe, welcoming space for makers, where they can bounce ideas off of one another, get suggestions or help when trying something new, and get the kind of commiseration and camaraderie that can only come from other textile makers and creators who understand the grind of working in this industry.
