About Shore House

Shore House is a Monmouth County NJ nonprofit that provides adults living with mental illness access to educational, social and employment opportunities. People who participate are known as members and membership is free and open to adults. We are not a treatment program or mental health service; we are an accredited Clubhouse model, where members can learn new skills, develop new relationships, and explore new opportunities. Shore House is a place to belong, and for most it’s family. Shore House is one of only 320 Accredited Clubhouses world-wide and is the first and only accredited Clubhouse in NJ Our members have significantly higher employment rates and lower rehospitalization rates than adults who do not have access to a Clubhouse program. Unlike Clubhouses in every other state, we are fully dependent on donations and do not receive funding from government or insurance reimbursement. Participants in our programs are referred to as ‘members’ not patients or clients. Unlike a hospital, clinic or other institution working with mental illness, Shore House, in following the Clubhouse model, is run by club members in alliance with staff as equal partners.
