About Sign & Us
At Sign & Us, we understand that change is not easy. Stepping foot into the health & fitness industry can be quite intimidating, but we are here to break the barrier between the hearing-impaired and coaches. As a CODA (child of deaf adult) I have grown up seeing firsthand the difficulties hearing-impaired individuals have doing normal daily activities in their lives. Having to interpret for both my hearing-impaired parents from a young age, I quickly learned their need for a voice. Upon discovering my love and passion for fitness & healthy living, I decided to invest my personal time into the methodology and trainings of functional fitness which resulted in receiving a Level 1 Trainer’s certificate. In my health and fitness career I have competed in multiple community competitions, fundraisers, participated in the open and have volunteered at multiple events. I take pride and passion in creating a community environment where everyone can feel welcome and safe. After years of training and being involved in the health and fitness community, I could see the breakdown in communication between trainers, group fitness and the hearing-impaired. With the help of a local gym owner, we started a small deaf functional fitness class every Sunday morning as a way for the local hearing-impaired community to come together and find their love for fitness – just as we did. Now we are helping the hearing-impaired all over Brisbane, our mission being… Breaking the barrier between coaches and the hearing-impaired, uniting them with health & fitness.
