About Simon Wiesenthal Genealogy Geolocation Initiative (SWIGGI)
During the last 15 years, we have developed a unique digital platform, the Simon Wiesenthal Genealogy Geolocation Initiative (SWIGGI), which connects genealogy and geolocation data in a novel way. It enables people to find the location of the houses in which their ancestors lived in the period from the 19th century until mid-20th century. The site shows all the residents of a given house and links to their family trees. For holocaust victims, we link to the Simon Wiesenthal Holocaust Memorial pages. We currently have the cities Lodz and Vienna and the Shtetls Skala Podolska, Nadworna and Solotwina. The data can be searched using the name of a person, vital data (birth and death years), gender, address and family trees. In some cases, you can search for profession. You can choose the source of the records (i.e., 19th century burial records, vital records from a given year range, holocaust deportation records.
