About Simsbury Historical Society
The Simsbury Historical Society preserves and promotes the rich history of Simsbury, a picturesque 1670 New England town filled with history and surprising stories. The centerpiece of its 2+ acre site in the Simsbury Center Historic District is the Capt. Elisha Phelps House, built circa 1771 and recognized on federal, state, and local historic registers. More commonly known as The Phelps Tavern, it remained in the Phelps family until 1962 when it was bequeathed to the Simsbury Historical Society.
