About Singing Beetle

Singing Beetle is a K-pop label that manages songwriters and artists from all over the world including North Korea. We provide music producing service to K-pop labels and artists, and publishing service to international songwriters and songwriting education. Our mission is to provide a healthy and inclusive network and infrastructure to K-pop musicians. We believe that entertainment is both recreation and a livelihood. We can only provide the world with quality music/entertainment when our artists maintain quality livelihood and health. We are inspired by the folktale about ants and a beetle. While ants worked all year to collect food, the beetle only sang songs. When the winter came, the beetle was about to starve and the ants brought food for the beetle. Though many believe that the lesson from this tale is to work hard all the time instead of hanging, i.e. playing music, we believe that the beetle, a.k.a. the artist, was providing the ants with entertainment and was compensated for her service at the end of the year. Hence, music brought joy to the working ants while becoming a source of livelihood for the beetle. Our CEO, Michelle Cho, is a Multi-Platinum A&R (Artists & Repertoire) who has sold almost 8 Million albums in her career. She is a seasoned SM Entertainment executive and Harvard graduate that brought together partners from all across the globe. Ranging from record labels in Asia to songwriters in Europe and the U.S., we aim to connect talents around the world to create better music. Next summer, we are debuting the world's first K-pop idol group that includes North Korean refugees, aiming to break cultural barriers and amplify voices from marginalized communities. Stay tuned!
