About Single Parents Association of
The Single Parents Association of Newfoundland & Labrador (SPANL) is a registered non-profit aimed at supporting and empowering single parent families across our province. Established in 1987, SPANL has expanded to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients, ranging from skills and training opportunities, to food security and holiday support. As an advocate for single parent families, our mission is to empower single parent families to have the tools and resources needed to succeed. Our impact on single parent families includes: - The operation of one of the largest Food Banks in the metro St. John’s region - SESP – a provincially-operated skills & training certification program aimed at empowering single parents re-enter the workforce - Back to School Program – whereby children of single parent families receive backpacks of school supplies to start the new year with confidence and determination - Christmas Magic – a program providing single parent families with presents, groceries and other necessary resources to create Christmas magic for their children - Margaret’s Closet – a resource providing single parents with apparel needed for interviewing and re-entering the workforce Our organization welcomes the opportunity to partner with individuals and companies who are looking to make a change in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
