About Sista Afya Community Care NFP

Sista Afya Community Care was founded in 2020 with the purpose of responding to the mental health inequity impacting the lives of young Black women in Chicago. We believe that supporting Black women in their young adult years can help to change the trajectory of their lives by engaging them in culturally responsive and gender-responsive mental wellness care. The Sista Afya Community Care, NFP (SACC) mission is to build sustainable mental wellness communities by providing affordable and culturally-centered community mental wellness care and education. Sista Afya Community Care makes mental wellness care accessible and achievable for women on the Southside of Chicago. Through SACC’s three programs, Thrive in Therapy, Community Care, and Developing Mental Wellness Warriors, we provide a variety of ways to engage and get support: individual therapy, groups, and community connection.
