About Skills Canada New Brunswick
Skills Canada New Brunswick is a not-for-profit organization devoted to the promotion of career opportunities in the trades and technical careers to youth. Established in 1998, Skills Canada New Brunswick is a not-for-profit provincial association, which serves as a link between employers, educators, labour groups and the government to reposition trade and technical careers as a first-choice career option for youth in New Brunswick. We are a part of the national association, Skills Canada, which has offices in each territory and province in Canada. To meet current demands and in anticipation of future trends, Skill Canada NB works to equip young minds with the skills that will help Canada compete successfully in a drastically changing world market. This is accomplished through programming targeted at high school and post-secondary students. Our main activities are the interactive skills competitions that are held in different locations across the province each year in over 30 different contest areas. These industry and government-supported events reflect industry standard scenarios and test the ability and knowledge of our student participants. In every contest, the highest-scoring competitor is then invited to join Team Skills Canada New Brunswick which competes at the annual Skills Canada National Competition.
