About Skye Children's Co-operative
Skye Children's Co-operative is a community-based not-for-profit early childhood education and care service with a funded 3 and 4 year old kindergarten program, that operates with a strong commitment to benefiting children and the community. All profits generated by the organisation are reinvested back into the service, ensuring that the children and the local community are the ultimate beneficiaries. Our cooperative model recognises the importance of families as integral contributors to shaping our service, fostering a shared child-centred, reflective, and respectful practice among our dedicated staff members and Board of Management. At Skye Children's Co-operative, our mission is to provide every child with a solid foundation for a lifelong love of learning, cultivating a culturally rich, stimulating, kind, sustainable, and playful environment built on respectful relationships. We hold deep respect for Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, with a specific focus on the Wurundjeri Wilam people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. We are dedicated to maintaining an environment that reflects these values, including respect for the land, waterways, fauna, flora, and people. Operating from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, Skye Children's Co-operative is a 42-place service that offers three rooms catering to children of different ages and stages of development. Each room is named after a native animal from our local Gresswell Reserve, which is also the location of our nature play programs- Bush Babies, Bush Toddlers and Bush Kindergarten. Our service is located within the Gresswell Reserve, allowing us to incorporate the natural surroundings into our programs and provide an immersive nature experience for the children.
