About Sliding into Finance

Sliding into Finance, founded by HS Juniors Joshua Burstein and Zachary Burstein, is intended to provide a vehicle through which high school age students can learn about, and better understand, financial literacy, through the interaction of the financial services and sports industries. As high school students themselves, Joshua and Zachary saw the need for education around financial literacy and the importance of teaching their peers about different aspects of financial planning. This is especially true as the complexity of the financial markets continues to grow, making it harder for high school age students to understand important financial concepts. It also is important that financial literacy is discussed in ways that make it interesting and relevant for high school students. Too often, these issues are discussed in ways that make them too complex or uninteresting to be productive or educational. Hearing from thought leaders in the financial services and sports industries on the importance of financial literacy, particularly from the standpoint of issues relevant to high school students who soon will be on their own in college and/or in the workforce, can be an invaluable resource. The initiative will position itself as a strong partner with others who are committed to financial literacy through education on the issues.
