When Betts Slingluff, Sr. first opened the doors to Slingluff United Insurance in 1928, little did he know the legacy he would build. Armed with a staff of one, and a whole lot of grit, Betts set his sights on purveying the best insurance agency he could for his family and friends in the Wiregrass. By 1945, he had outgrown his second floor office in the First National Bank of Dothan building and moved Slingluff Insurance down Foster Street. 1963 brought a lot of change, including a fresh start on South Oates where Slingluff United is today, and the addition of his son, Morris, to the team. Over the next 42 years with Morris at the helm, the agency would grow from a modest 4 person office handling less than 300 customers, to a highly automated office and staff of 16 associates serving more than 6,000 individuals, families and businesses in the Wiregrass Area. 2005 brought change again as Mr. Slingluff turned the reigns over to his son, Ben. As president, Ben continues to cultivate a team of thoughtful, diligent and personable people who are the heart of Slingluff United. Our longevity is deep-rooted in building relationships, attention to detail and commitment to service. Throughout our 90 years, one thing has not changed and that’s our commitment to providing our clients with the right coverage for their individual situation. Simply put, our policy is people.
