About Slowik Music Institute d/b/a Credo
Credo is a world-recognized and expanding program of intensive classical music instruction that brings together the world’s leading artist-teachers and talented students from 5 continents in an atmosphere of personal mentorship and community service. Credo’s flagship program is its three-week summer course of string and piano chamber music, hosted at the renowned Oberlin Conservatory of Music. The chamber music format allows for close daily mentorship between prizewinning students and artists of the highest caliber – faculty at Oberlin, Juilliard, Eastman, etc. Since the program’s inception nearly 15 years ago, Credo has been a leader in integrating community service – sharing of musical talent and self – into its program. Credo students have performed more than 500 concerts in nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, inner city youth centers, and hospice centers. Credo’s unique holistic program, which challenges tomorrow’s future leaders on a personal level while engaging their musical excellence, has an enormous ripple effect. Recent Credo alumni have spearheaded musical/disaster relief trips to Japan and Haiti, and culture-bridging trips to Jordan and Palestine. Credo alumni can be found in leadership positions at every major US conservatory, as principal chairs in youth orchestras across America, and in increasing numbers on university faculties and in professional orchestras.
