About SMACNA Metropolitan Detroit Chapter

Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) Metropolitan Detroit Chapter is a local member of its national association located in Washington, D.C., which includes a family of some 100 chapters around the nation. SMACNA provides codes, standards and technical specifications used throughout the country providing safety and wellbeing to contractors, their sheet metal workers and the general public. Along with providing the best services, skills and products available in the sheet metal industry, SMACNA Detroit is primarily involved in labor relations activities on behalf of its members with Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation International Association (SMART) Local Union #80, representing approximately 100 contractors who employ some 900 sheet metal workers throughout Southeastern Michigan. We are intimately involved with the Inspection Community, Legislative and Political Action, Safety, Code Enforcement and other technical and educational programs on an ongoing basis, giving our contractor members a sharp edge on their non-union competition. Proud to be involved with SMART Local Union #80, we have been an integral part of establishing ongoing education for our Building Trades Construction Workers, both Apprentices and Journeymen, as well as Service, Residential and Production employees. The SMART Local Union #80 Apprentice Training Facility is one of the best in the country and turns out top grade journeymen after five full years of training and education. Volunteers include our Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and many committees, all of which help to run the organization to make it a first class association. Membership in SMACNA Metropolitan Detroit Chapter and SMACNA National comes with prestige and high standards expected on quality jobs and provided by sheet metal contractors and members of SMART.
