About Smart Social Strategy

The Smart Social Strategy is a project in the Hadar neighbourhood in Haifa. It is a multi-disciplinary research lab which shapes and redefines the world of public policy in urban planning. The project is led by Dr. Meirav Aharon Gutman from the faculty of architecture and urban planning at the Technion. The lab connects between technological tools of the “smart city” and leading public participation practices. It is both an idea and a physical space. The idea is to develop innovative tools grounded in socio-economic principles which shape urban policy. The space is a room which is supported by advanced technology which enables a smart decision-making process. The integration of the idea and space allows the lab to develop tools to plan, manage and develop the city in an attempt to create social change. The project is in partnership with and supported by the National Insurance Institute of Israel and Shahaf foundation.
