About SmartAcoustics
Smart Acoustics is a division of Knowledge Economy Developments Ltd and is concerned with applying modern signal processing techniques to acoustical imaging. Acoustical imaging methods include medical ultrasound, sonar and industrial NDT ultrasound. Building on research done at the University of Cambridge, the initial aim is to develop technologies that can augment existing ultrasound imaging techniques, replacing a reliance on expensive special purpose hardware with software running on ubiquitous and general purpose computers and embedded devices - improving the cost/quality trade-off. Applications of signal processing in acoustical imaging include, but are not limited to, advanced beamforming, statistical deconvolution, noise reduction and synthetic aperture techniques.
