Across the United States and abroad, Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects (SM+H) has designed and built public and private projects including academic buildings, government facilities, adaptive re-use workplaces, transportation terminals, research centers, technology innovation hubs, not-for-profit cultural facilities, museums and performing arts centers and parks. We view each project as an opportunity for Design Excellence through which we refine our understanding of practice with each unique set of constraints and conditions. We have experience working at a variety of scales from Programming, Master Planning and Urban Design to Architecture, Interiors, and Exhibition Design. The firm has received numerous awards including the American Academy of Arts and Letters Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize in Architecture, the NYC AIA Chapter Medal of Honor, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and a Special Recognition for Excellence in Design from the New York City Art Commission. We are an extraordinarily accessible and responsive team with a history of successful collaboration with clients, and a wide variety of complex project stakeholders including educational institutions, government agencies and local community representatives.
