About Smither Family Kitchen (acquired by Mikey V's Foods)

Smither Family Kitchen is a gourmet food company in Houston, Texas. Although we started our company in 2009, the Smither family has been in the retail business since 1837 when Smither Grocery Co. opened in a small wooden structure in Huntsville, Republic of Texas. Since then, our family has been among the connoisseurs of spicy foods, salsas, and the finest margaritas. Growing up in our house meant always having some fresh, homemade salsa and queso in the kitchen. Over the years we perfected the salsa recipe and it became a favorite of family and friends who convinced us we needed to take our cooking out of the kitchen and into the mainstream. In 2009, we started Smither Family Kitchen and our first major show was the 2009 Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market. We completely sold out before the show ended! Buoyed by our early success selling our salsa, we introduced our second product, DillapeñoTM. DillapeñoTM is a unique sweet and spicy topping/dip - “The Perfect Blend of Sweet and Spicy.” Within months of its introduction, our DillapeñoTM took home a 1st place “People’s Choice Award” at the 2010 Houston Hot Sauce Festival and our salsa won a 2nd place ribbon. Shortly thereafter, our DillapeñoTM won a 1st place award at the 2011 Dallas Zest Fest. Since then we have expanded into grocery and specialty stores in Texas and around the country. Our current clients are very pleased with the repeat business they get from our products.
