About Soap Cycling

Soap Cycling is a nonprofit organization that works with the hospitality industry to collect, process, and distribute lightly used soap bars and bottled amenities. These life-saving items are then distributed to disadvantaged communities around the world, particularly Asia. Our three-part mission: 1. Improve Sanitation & Hygiene We aim to improve sanitation and hygiene in underprivileged regions, with a particular emphasis on reducing child mortality rates; pneumonia and diarrhea are the leading causes of death for children under the age of five. Simply washing hands with soap is one of the most effective ways to prevent children from suffering from these diseases. 2. Green Living & Waste Reduction Over two million bars of soap are thrown away each year by hotels in Hong Kong alone. By collecting this soap, Soap Cycling is helping to eliminate thousands of pounds of chemical waste from our landfills each month. We also seek to help the public develop a greater awareness of up-cycling and maintaining a greener lifestyle for the betterment of the environment. 3. Education & Empowerment The majority of Soap Cycling is composed of students. We offer internships in all aspects so students may gain hands-on experience and share their insights and skills. They are also infused with an appreciation for corporate social responsibility, social enterprise, and the importance of giving back in society. The MEY (美) Program The MEY (美) Program is a new initiative being implemented in Hong Kong with a chief focus on empowering Hong Kong's disadvantaged youth and elderly who will get a chance to lead and be empowered, plus a fair wage for their time and work.
