Social Surveys Africa is an Africa based, Africa focused, and African centric organisation that provides evidence based strategic insights .We are a leading specialist in social & development strategy with 35 years of experience in supporting decision-makers in government, the private sector and civil society to take better evidence-based decisions for social impact. Through designing and implementing a wide range of social and development research projects in South and sub-Saharan Africa we deliver respectful, rich and textured insights based on our understanding of the issues that impact communities and organisations. Our in-house capabilities in generating creative, contextually informed, methodologically appropriate primary evidence and turning this into relevant policy insights, have had significant impacts on how key institutions think and act in relation to education, land and labour policy, health, youth employment, mining, social entrepreneurship, employee mobility and well being, social cohesion and community-based protests, among others. In particular, Social Surveys has developed unmatched expertise in understanding the dynamics of communities, and in helping design research-based strategies that empower communities to become healthier and more stable on a sustainable basis. For instance, this has a particular application in fields such as mining, where substantial workforces live in close proximity to each other, to management, and to surrounding communities. It takes especially sensitive yet robust research to understand how policy making can so easily enhance or disrupt the status quo in such situations.
