Our Mission: To empower the community to reach its full potential by advancing Latino success in STEM at San Jose State University. Our Vision: SOLES graduates are STEM professionals who continuously foster progress and innovation in the world. Summary: The Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists (SOLES), a dual student chapter of MAES (Latinos in Engineering and Science) and SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) is a recognized student organization associated with the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at San Jose State University. SOLES members are dedicated to social, professional and academic development as well as community outreach. SOLES members are in direct exposure to opportunities for academic development and professional development through: tutoring sessions from industry, development workshops, national conferences from MAES and SHPE, and industry exposure through company tours.
