Like an anthology, our collection of skirts are for story-telling and mood-making. Just as a haiku some of our bottom frocks are short, while like an epic others are long and dramatic, but surely all are uninhibited enough to allow the wearer space to narrate her own empowering story. The Sofistafunk label was born in 1999 to Arlinda McIntosh and daughter-in-law Cheshire Boone-Mickens. Bold, feminine and ultra versatile, the styles explore the alliances between the Elizabethan era through the Victorian period, on to the fields of the southern North Carolina terrain, creating a contemporary yet couture aesthetic; poetic in design the pieces awaken the memories of playing dress up all while maintaining the ability to transition from 9-5 to an after work affair with ease. Best known for their uninhibited and ultra girly approach to skirt making, the label has become a favorite amongst clients for their timeless, grand and picturesque creations. In our efforts to be more environmentally responsible, 99% of our silk, cotton and wool cuttings are re-purposed into other useable fashion moments, so they never reach the already overflowing land fields.
