About SOIL Boulder - Slow Opportunities for Investing Locally
SOIL strengthens resiliency for farmers and the planet by empowering local food systems. We are a volunteer-driven grassroots nonprofit that raises funds from community members and businesses to provide 0% loans for food and agriculture projects in Boulder County, the Front Range, and beyond. Our mission brings together active stewards—citizens, businesses, and farmers—to support the growth of a thriving local food economy. SOIL offers emerging farmers and enterprises access to alternative capital sources that they might not qualify for through traditional financing, or that would come with high interest rates. Our mission is to foster disruptive and regenerative food systems through community-funded loans. We are a passionate group of environmentalists, foodies, farmers, and so much more, and we are always looking for more members to join the movement! Originally established as a chapter of Slow Money, SOIL has operated for about six years and became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2023.
