About Sol Food - Puerto Rican Cuisine
Sol Food began in the San Rafael Farmers Market in 2003. By 2004, Sol Food had opened its first location on 4th street. Although the location was only 280 square feet with a limited indoor seating for six, the tiny location thrived, customers were ecstatic to eat at the planter box in the parking lot – often the only seating available. Sol Food is incredibly fresh Puerto Rican Food with unique and delicious flavor combinations, also known for their homemade sauces, Pique hot sauce and Lemon Garlic sauce. The business grew as pick-up and delivery became popular, however, the little kitchen was unable to keep up. In 2007, a second location was opened a block away. The larger kitchen was able to do the prop work for the “little place” as it was affectionately called, in addition to serving its own its own dining room for 49 people and frequent line that continues to form on the sidewalk during dinner time. The Little Place had an outdoor patio hidden behind the building. Ultimately however it was also unable to keep up with the orders that came in from the expanded delivery area. Now as of 2019 Sol Food Restaurant continues to grow with three locations, The Green Building, La Bodega the pick-up place net to the green building, and the Mill Valley location.
