Solent Windship Co is dedicated to creating a more sustainable future for our oceans. Our innovative clipper ship combines traditional spirit with modern technology to transport goods by sea in an environmentally friendly way. Join us in our commitment to a cleaner, greener future for our planet. Our story began in 2016 with the idea for Solent Windship Trust; a charity ambition to design and build a modern clipper ship. The aim was to sustainably transport fair trade cargo while providing life-changing sail training opportunities to disadvantaged individuals. Pursuing a charity structure in today’s economic climate however, is incredibly challenging and the project would likely fail. The Solent Windship Co will be a “profit with purpose” company, enabling the project to be both environmentally and financially sustainable. Building a modern clipper ship and applying 150 years of sailing design evolution means we will transport cargos as sustainably and efficiently as possible. Wanting to stay true to our original ambition, the Solent Windship Trust will still exist as a bursary fund. This will be sustained from a percentage of Solent Windship Co’s operational profit, with the aim to fund at least one position on every trip. We want to build a strong community between the cargo producers, ourselves and our customers. Ensuring producers are paid a fair price for their products, enabling them to continue to produce in an ethical and sustainable way. We are here for a short time. It is our duty as bastions of this planet to leave it the way we found it, for we are only borrowing from future generations.
