About Solstice Design Studio

Solstice is a multidisciplinary, full-service architecture studio. Rooted in Salt Lake City, Utah and Southeast Ohio, designing homes and community-rooted projects across the U.S. Since 2020, we’ve collaborated with clients to shape environments that support how they live, work, and connect. From early ideas to final details, our work is driven by clarity, connection, and care. What we do lives at the intersection of architecture, art, and process. We don’t follow a single style. We are principled but not rigid, curious but not aimless, practical but not limited, relaxed but not indifferent. Every project begins as a conversation - an exploration of place, constraints, ideas, form, experience and materials. We care deeply about service. For us, it’s not just about delivering great design, but building real relationships along the way. Every project is a balance of bold ideas and grounded execution. We aim to create spaces that feel intuitive, lasting, and like they belong. Our approach is rooted in architectural depth, shaped by hands-on construction knowledge, and informed by building science. We draw on Passive House principles and (soon) the WELL Building Standard to design spaces that support comfort, performance, and wellbeing. Founded by architectural designer and artist Caroline Wallace, and architect and fabricator Shay Myers - partners in work and life - who share a belief that the best architecture begins with listening. Together, they’ve built a fully remote team connected by craft, curiosity, and care. Solstice continues to learn from clients, colleagues, and the land itself. While no two projects are the same, the goal is always consistent: to create spaces that reflect the people who use them - and stand the test of time. Let’s create something meaningful together.
