About Something Great - Zentrum für Zeitgenössische Darstellende Künste
Something Great is a non-profit organisation based in Germany that supports, promotes, and presents international contemporary performing arts with a focus on dance and performance. Founded in 2017 as an organisation dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary performing arts, it has since grown into one of Europe’s most influential organisations of its kind and has recently evolved into a pioneering arts centre in rural northeastern Germany. Established in 2022, its centre is housed within an extensive complex of outbuildings at Schloss Mentin, a historic manor estate in Ruhner Berge, a municipality in the southwest of the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Conveniently located just 1.5 hours from Hamburg and Berlin, and 20 minutes from Parchim, the nearest town, the centre offers a unique space for artistic research, creation, exchange, and presentation. It comprises four venues, which are set to gradually open to the public between 2026 and 2030. Today, as an arts centre, Something Great develops a diverse range of activities—from gallery-style collaborations with artists to the programming of festivals, residencies, and local community initiatives, as well as other programmes held both within and beyond the centre’s walls, including its radio shows.
