About Song For You
Born in the pandemic, Song for You is a grassroots arts not-for-profit that provides healing and comfort to patients (and their loved ones) at the end of their lives. Through personalized recorded songs, we honor the legacies patients leave behind while creating a lasting moment of connection between them and their families. Songs are also written for first responders & the health care workers who look after these very patients. What started as a singular call in 2020 to reach Covid-19 patients (particularly in a moment in our world when families could not be in the room with one another) "Song For You" Foundation has now grown into its own 501c3 charity in NYC, writing for families across the country. Over a time span of 18 months, our artists wrote, recorded, and shared over 200 personalized songs, written from scratch, based on the stories of each individual patient as told through their families to help their legacies live on in song. Songs were also written to honor first responders--including a staff as small as 100 Nurses in a hospice in NYC, to a song written for a healthcare system of 15,000 Nurses in Idaho at Christmas. Following a most generous response from the community at large, Song For You has expanded beyond the pandemic. In a few years time, we have built our own strong community of Artists, and attracted Grammy award-winning artists & Grammy nominees, along with local, touring, and internationally awarded artists both here and abroad. Healthcare organizations across the country are now offering our service to patients and families, as well as to Nurses & Social Workers as a way to boost morale and say thank you. This year as we go forward with our mission of keeping songs free to families, we hope to grow our Artist Network, build our Board, and spread our mission even further to deepen our impact. š¤
