About SOOP

Established in 2016, SOOP was founded with a purpose to improve the lives of refugees living in the UK through the lens of food by supporting refugees in countering the barriers to opportunity and, employment in the UK’s food and catering industry; And, challenging the negative attitudes towards refugee communities through the means of food. Central to SOOP is a culinary programme for participants who have been forced to their country of origin. This is aimed at providing a platform of learning and opportunity for participants who wish to have a career in the UK’s food and catering industry Another integral component to SOOP’s work are SOOP events primarily in the form of monthly story-based supper clubs, which brings communities and SOOP’s culinary participants over food.
