About SORCE Sustainable Oceanic Research Conservation & Education
Our Vision is to achieve sustainable community backed methods of ensuring the ongoing restoration of marine ecosystems to a state of good health, well-being and productivity that can be maintained and improved upon for generations to come. SORCE is dedicated to the protection and restoration of the marine environment through scientific action, field research and global education. We strive to promote an understanding of the need for change in achieving a sustainable future for our world’s natural ecosystems. Our facility is based in the south west corner of Lombok, Indonesia in the Secret Gilis. SORCE offers eco-ventures which not only include accommodation and board but also include onsite education and hands on experience at our Lombok facility, providing eco-venturers the opportunity to make a difference with conservation projects run by SORCE in collaboration with local stakeholders. We are currently running Coral restoration, Mangrove reforestation, Seagrass restoration, Turtle identification and Debris collection and recycling projects. SORCE also offers Thesis placements, Scientific field placements, Conservation research assistant placements and the Cambridge University accredited Marine Science A-Level.
