About Souk in the City - Omar Majdi - Born in Morocco, and raised in the kitchen’s of Casablanca, Omar arrived on the shores of Australia in 1987 teaming up with celebrity chef Hassan M’souli and introducing Sydneysiders to the tantalising aromas of Moroccan cuisine. Following in the success of his previous establishments- the Mosquito Bar, Dar Essalem Casablanca, Out of Africa and most recently Tajine, Omar’s current dining vision is to take Moroccan cuisine to new levels of appreciation. Omar has boundless energy and passion, not only for all things Moroccan, but to create a fusion of the best of both worlds, the sensual aromatic flavours of North Africa with the experimental kitchen of his adopted homeland, Australia.
