About Southampton University Cyber Security Society
The Southampton University Cyber Security Society (SUCSS) is an academic society run by students. The society has been established for over 7 years and has a current membership of 150+ students. The Society runs weekly events throughout the academic year aimed at introducing new students into Cyber Security as well as catering for members with advanced knowledge of the subject. Weekly events are typically in-person sessions covering a variety of different aspects of Cyber Security, while attempting to keep each session independent from one another to allow any student to join the society at any point throughout the academic year. Each session is run starting with an hour or so introduction into a specific field and then practiced using an internally developed Jeopardy-style Capture the Flag exercises, which are both interesting and challenging. Students from any discipline across the University are welcome to join the society, we attract students predominantly from STEM fields. Naturally, many of our members are students who are studying computer science, electronic or electrical engineering.
