About Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership – SEMAP

The Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) believes that local agriculture is essential to the health and vitality of our community and our economy. We provide assistance to farmers, educate the community on the importance of local agriculture, work to increase the functionality of our region’s food system, and connect all people to local food. Our efforts focus on: land preservation & expansion, education & technical assistance, and healthy local food access for all. Our annual featured programs include: Agriculture & Food Conference: Every year in late February, Bristol County Agricultural High School is a hub of learning, conversation, and good local food. Our conference brings agricultural experts from near and far to put on over 20 agricultural workshops for all ages and interests. Twilight Grower Series: From April-November we bring area farmers together to share knowledge on specific farm topics, and help provide the skill-sharing that all growers can benefit from. Local Food Guide: Our yearly compendium of local farms, farmers markets, fairs, expos, seafood, beer, wine, spirits, value-added products, restaurants, venues, grocers, service providers, and more. Policy & Advocacy: Our presence is felt from the farmhouse to the Statehouse. We keep our growers up-to-date on the happenings at Beacon Hill, and we work towards furthering the local food economy through advocacy on legislation outlined in the Massachusetts Local Food Action Plan. TIE Grants: SEMAP’s TIE Grant Program, provides direct financial support to help farmers develop and trial technologies that are economically and environmentally resilient. Mission Statement: SEMAP is dedicated to preserving and expanding access to local food and sustainable farming in Southeastern Massachusetts through research and education.
