About Southern Africa Employee Ownership Association

SAEOA has been registered and established as a not for profit company to serve the interest of employees and employers and be the voice of the employees, companies and shareholders on sharing ownership broadly with people who make the company succeed. SAEOA has been formed to assist the stakeholders in redressing the gaps, on policies, and coming up with the right financial models to finance Employee Ownership (EO) in South Africa. South Africa needs the right policies, political will and resources to support and implement EO. EO is the right way to improve the socio-economic livelihoods of employees and the right path to economic growth. SAEOA Strategic Objectives: (a) To encourage companies to drive their transformation strategies through Employee Ownership (Employee Benefit Trust) or Broad Based Ownership; (b) To conduct research on Employee Ownership in partnership with universities and colleges; (c) To drive and encourage employee ownership as a tool to grow the economy and create sustainable employment opportunities and distribution of wealth amongst youth, women and people with disability; (d) To be the voice of Employee Benefit Trust in the space of employee ownership; (e) To influence government policy formulation / changes in the space of employee ownership; (f) To be a research hub, conduct benchmarks, best practices and lesson learnt on employee ownership; (g) To facilitate pro-active creation of sustainable employment opportunities using employee ownership model as a key driver; (h) To facilitate distribution of wealth to broad based beneficiaries (employees); (I) To facilitate creation of wealth to employees as beneficiaries of the trust; (J) To provide various training programmes on employee ownership and structuring; (k) To encourage companies with employee ownership trust to register as members of the association; (L) To be leaders in conducting surveys and research on employee ownership across the continent;
