About Southern African Wildlife College
The Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC), or better known as ‘The College’ to our students and staff, has conservation at the heart of all we do. The idea for an educational institution to service the Southern African region was born out of the need to strengthen the training of protected area managers for challenges arising within the conservation sector. And so, in 1996 the Southern African Wildlife College was founded by WWF-SA in association with the Peace Parks Foundation. Our mission was to become a regionally recognised centre of specialisation in conservation education, training and skills development. Not only was this achieved but the College has gone on to become a leader of conservation training and education institutions in Southern Africa. OUR VISION: To inspire every person we train and engage with to conserve our natural world. OUR PURPOSE & VALUES: To equip people with the necessary knowledge and applied skills to conserve and protect Africa’s natural resources and its biodiversity in viable, inclusive and economically successful ways. Due to the hard work and dedication of many individuals the SAWC is now pioneering the way forward in key fields of the conservation sector. Our unique blended approach to learning and education has meant that we offer a well-balanced perspective and opportunity for students, staff and stakeholders alike.
