MISSION The Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA) is organized exclusively to: 1. Improve the health of people in Southern California by working with public health and other agencies in health promotion and disease prevention activities. 2. Provide opportunities for public health professionals to enhance their knowledge. 3. Formulate and advocate sound public health policy. OBJECTIVES 1. Provide public health leadership by working to maintain and enhance health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and health protection efforts in Southern California. 2. Increase awareness of how public health efforts promote, protect, and maintain individual and community health. 3. Develop collaborative relationships with organizations and individual consumers to advocate for policies and practices that promote public health. 4. Provide educational opportunities that address current and emerging needs of public health professionals. 5. Facilitate linkages between people and information about public health. 6. Provide consultation and technical assistance that promote research, education, and programs. 7. Provide services related to health assessment, assurance, and policy development.
