About Southern Eye Center

Southern Eye Center’s mission is to lead the way in providing care for adults suffering from cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases and disorders, dry eye, corneal conditions and other general ophthalmologic conditions in Mississippi’s Pine Belt and the surrounding areas. Southern Eye Center was the first practice to open an eyes-only ambulatory surgery center in the state of Mississippi, over 40 years ago, and is widely recognized as Mississippi’s eyecare technology leader. The surgeons of Southern Eye Center introduced the Light Adjustable Lens to the state of Mississippi. (The Light Adjustable lens is the only lens implant in the world that can be customized and fine-tuned to meet the needs of each individual patient after their cataract procedure.) Our surgeons introduced blade-free incisions for cataract surgery and blade-free LASIK to Mississippi, as well as being the first practice to offer Implantable Collamer Contact Lenses (ICLs). Each member of our medical staff is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and each surgeon has subspecialty fellowship training. Kiper C.
