The Southside Hornets Athletic Association was officially first known as The Poly Hornets of Ft. Worth. Originally founded by Mr. Perry, The Hornets were created as a sports program that allowed young men to focus on athletics versus problems that were increasing rapidly in the Fort Worth neighborhoods throughout the 1970s. Understanding that this would be a growing problem over the years, the Poly Hornets switched their name to the Southside Hornets Athletic Association so that they could make a bigger impact in the surrounding communities of Ft. Worth. Sports has become an outlet for children and helps increase their confidence, knowledge of teamwork, and character and helps build discipline. Today, Southside now impacts over 500 kids yearly through team sports, mentoring, counseling, and tutoring.
