About Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development Council
Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council, Inc. is a regional nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1992. We work to improve the local economy through wise use and development of local resources to enhance the environment and the standard of living in Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, La Crosse, Lafayette, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties. Southwest Badger is designed to make our communities more viable, productive and better places to live. Southwest Badger works to: • Organize local citizens and partners to identify and address local concerns • Work seamlessly across political and jurisdictional boundaries • Leverage limited federal and state dollars with private funds and resources to accomplish local goals • Provide an extensive network of technical, organizational and financial support • Respond to the needs of local communities for conservation issues Southwest Badger directs efforts at solving problems or capitalizing on opportunities agreed upon by communities, public and private organizations, units of government, and our Southwest Badger Council, made up of county and citizen representatives from each of our nine counties. Southwest Badger is one of seven local RC&Ds serving Wisconsin. Each of these RC&D Councils is committed to improving Wisconsin’s economy while conserving its rich resources. The premise of the RC&D program is that local people know what is best for their communities. Our Goals • Protect, conserve, restore and where necessary, improve land, water and related resources to assure the quality of the natural resource base for future generations • Support the development and enhancement of the environment to provide area citizens with an attractive, healthful and satisfying place to live, work and play • Support and promote social, economic and natural resource development to improve the standard of living and provide adequate incomes for all area residents
