About Southwest Florida Symphony
The Southwest Florida Symphony is Lee County’s only professional orchestra and one of the oldest symphony orchestras on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Our organization made its debut as the Fort Myers Symphony, a community orchestra, on April 15, 1961, performing in schools and community centers with a roster of just 24 volunteer musicians. Since our inception, the Southwest Florida Symphony has grown to a roster of over 65 world-class musicians, educated at the most prestigious conservatories and universities and providing Lee County’s only access point for this orchestral performance level. Each season, our orchestra presents a series of five Masterworks concerts, three Pops concerts, and multiple Holiday Pops concerts. In addition to delivering concerts and events, our organization is committed to providing, supporting, and encouraging arts education in Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties. Through our Youth Orchestra, student opportunities, community outreach, scholarships, and competitions, we work to bring together diverse audiences through our high-quality and effective programming, fostering and encouraging critical thinking and lifelong learning.
