About Southwest Guidance Center
Southwest Guidance Center opened for business as a Kansas Licensed Community Mental Health Center on January 05, 1965. Initially serving the residents of Seward County, our service area soon grew to include Stevens County later in 1965, Meade County in 1966, and Haskell County in 1972. The Mental Health Reform Act of 1990 allowed us to provide wider range of services, including specialized community services, throughout these counties. By 2024, SWGC is poised to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This will allow us to improve service outcomes through specific evidence-based practices and quality coordinated care. We provide service regardless of an individual's race, color, age, sex, or national origin. While SWGC charges a fee for services rendered, we will not deny a resident service because of inability to pay. Persons who are experiencing a mental health emergency are never denied service. Services are available to both children and adults. Services may also be provided in Spanish through an interpreter. All services are provided at our offices in Liberal. Therapy and case management are also provided in our offices in Sublette, Hugoton, and Meade. Case Management may be provided where the individual lives, works, or attends school.
