Sox Kamen was founded in 1998 by Steven Walton. The first studio and manufacturing workshop established the style of working that is still embraced today, allowing personal involvement with every project and the ability to be selective about the type of work undertaken, whether projects are self initiated or for specific individual briefs. The principles of good design, quality manufacturing, excellent customer service, honesty and fairness remain at the forefront of every project. The skills of the artisans and craftspeople employed are respected and nurtured. They play a crucial role with their perfected traditional techniques working in tandem with the precision of modern technology. This approach results in a final product that meets discerning demands by combining the advantages of machine precision with the beauty and sincerity of the handcrafted finish. Embedded in this approach Sox-Kamen strives not only to make the best furniture possible, but also to ensure that longevity is standard, rather than an optional extra. Designing and making furniture that is built to last, is a small but sensible step towards sustainability. Today Steven still manages Sox-Kamen and he has now been joined by Ilaria Coppola. They are designers who share a passion for creativity and excellence and together they help clients imagine and ultimately bring to life environments that enhance their everyday sense of well being. Furniture is designed and created with the aim of enriching the lives of others. Within this there is the challenge of how to best use the diminishing resources of the world, something that has always been considered as each project develops. Whilst Sox-Kamen is only a small company, utilising intelligent design and technology, it continues to use these resources carefully.
