The Spa Radiance story starts in mid-century Moscow, where mother-daughter founders Galina Rovner and Angelina Umansky began their lifelong education and obsession with skincare. Angelina's Grandma Rose (Galina's mother) was an herbalist and healer who taught both daughter and granddaughter her craft. Founded by Galina and Angelina in San Francisco's Union Square in 1976, Spa Radiance moved in the mid-nineties from busy downtown to the still up-and-coming Cow Hollow district. Here is where the spa evolved into a San Francisco institution - catering to both local and socialite clientele - giving back to local philanthropies such as UCSF, the San Francisco Ballet, and Children of Shelters. Integrating invaluable old world knowledge with the most innovative skincare technology and products on the market, Spa Radiance became known as the destination for results-driven skincare. Today, a Spa Radiance facial may include NASA-developed LED light therapy, Biologique Recherché products and microcurrents combined with old world techniques like acupressure extractions and "sweating the pores" instead of steam. Not only do Spa Radiance estheticians go through a rigorous hiring process, they are constantly receiving advanced training on new innovations in skincare and products.
