About Spa Technologies

The inspiration for Spa Technologies began many years before the company’s founding when President, Dan Fryda, visited his family’s seaweed farm in Brittany, France. While there, he became intrigued with thalassotherapy which uses seawater, sea products and an ocean climate for healing the skin and revitalizing the soul. It has been speculated that thalassotherapy was developed in the seaside towns of Brittany during the 19th century. Dan’s family’s coastal heritage, combined with his understanding of the healing benefits of seaweed resulted in the development of his first product, our Revitalizing Sea Cleanse. Soon after, Dan started Spa Technologies, one of the first seaweed-based skincare companies in the U.S. which we feel inspired an industry trend and has been trusted by luxury spas around the world for over 30 years. As he prepares for retirement, Dan's nephew, Dave Mombert, has taken over as VP and Lead Formulator. Dave began formulating at an early age when he mixed our Marine Repair Cream with water and soap in Dan's at-home lab, which inspired Dan to create our Lavender Cleansing Milk. Dave has been working in the Spa Technologies lab for over 13 years. Spa Technologies offers our customers high quality skincare products as well as producing custom formulations for clients in our private New York based lab. Our products use high percentages of active ingredients and always include marine algaes and seaweeds to make sure they provide the most benefits possible.
